The Research
Getting started on any project requires understanding the market. Currently there are a number of childrens clothing brands, from quirky and cute, to organic earthy basics, to high fashion brands. La Petite Fleur was a brand that wanted to be somewhere in the middle of that.
To have the "je ne sais quoi" of French design, yet still retain the innocence of childhood play.
The Moodboard
Part of this phase was getting the right type of "french feeling" into the logo, as the heritage is so vast it could go in any direction. So I took all the reference images of France, from the romantic frills of the Renaissance to the macaroon shops in Paris, the lavender fields of Provence, the perfumery filled with roses, the vineyards of Champagne, to the stripes of the French Rivera in Nice.
And that is where we went, the old world glamour of Nice, where the stripes are casual yet tres chic!
From the name we needed to include a flower in the logo and to keep it simple and sweet we went with a hand drawn scribble of the flower, inspired by the bountiful layers of the French Rose.
The Design
I designed the logo to fit onto printables like hanging tags and packaging as well as be dissected and sewn right onto a garment.
